Permanent Magnet I/O & Inboard Starters

Sierra starters meet SAE or UL standards for ignition protection to prevent explosion. Sierra offers remanufactured and new starters for many applications. Starters are available for standard (left hand) and reverse (right hand) rotation engines. They can be mounted two ways. Front mount starters have the drive gear facing aft and spin opposite of the engine rotation. Rear mount starters have the drive gear facing forward and spin in the same direction as the engine. Low voltage caused by worn out batteries, loose wire connections or corrosion can cause starter and other electrical component failure. Before replacing your starter, make sure to check for voltage problems.
