It has a 8.5" beam and an overall height of 59". The hull and deck are molded one piece ABS plastic. The high-aspect-ratio foil-shaped rudder and keel fin are molded with their shafts installed. The spars are made of aluminum tubing, the keel bulb is a shaped lead casting, and the sails are dye-cut from lightweight rip-stop polyester spinnaker cloth. The CR 914 is one of the most popular one-design radio controlled classes with local fleets in many states. Over 1,340 CR 914s are currently registered in the US. They are raced by teen-agers and octogenarians, by beginning sailors and national, international and Olympic sailing champions, in 27 active fleets from coast to coast.
