Sierra starters meet SAE or UL standards for ignition protection to prevent explosion. Sierra offers remanufactured and new starters for many applications. They can be mounted two ways. Front mount starters have the drive gear facing aft and spin opposite of the engine rotation. Rear mount starters have the drive gear facing forward and spin in the same direction as the engine.
