Try a foam 7" pad on your electic rotary buffer to apply.Let film dry and wipe off like any typical wax. Product removes most of the grime and left a shine all season. If surface is chaulky you will want to use a buffing compound first.

This may be great stuff but 3m needs to add more info. I did a small spot and just wiped it on and it came out splotchie. Then tried another and let dry and buff terrible results. The staff at west marine said Dont buff just apply in small sections just wipe on and do not buff. The directions on bottle just state shake well and wash boat with 3M boat soap. No other directions. This stuff is expensive and NO DIRECTIONS.

Comments about Scotchgard Marine Liquid Wax:

I've been using this wax on my boat for as long as I can remember. May even be around thirty years. I use this as an extra step of protection every season after I use 3m's Compound and Wax. This has been my yearly regimen for as long as these products have been available -- I bought my boat new 31 years ago and swear by these products and can attest to the fact that my boat still looks great due to these products !!

I use it with a buffer and i love it. It doesn't provide a super glossy shine, but it lasts and protects.

Have used Collinite, Meguirs, Heller Glanz. Scotchgard was recommended by a guy at West Marine. I love it! The surface feels smooth and is extremely shiny. Boat is not yet in the water. Will report later on life after months in the sun.

I put off waxing the boat because I was expecting it to be like car wax, difficult to apply and white crust over everything you don't want it to be on. This wax reminds me more of sunscreen than wax. You essentially rub it on and thats it. My entire 20 foot boat top and bottom was waxed in an hour.
