Director – eCommerce Development

Overview

In this exciting and challenging role, you will have overall responsibility for leading the e-commerce application development teams and managing all web application programming and development. You will lead both internal and external teams of developers across multiple platforms and locations fulfilling both short and long-term strategic goals. This future leader is responsible for staff management, project management in coordination with the PMO, budgeting, cost control and effectively interfacing with other IT teams including the IT Operations, Network and Security Teams.

Job Description

Reports to CIO and works with the IT organization to manage all eCommerce Application development and maintenance efforts, including: application road mapping, planning, budgeting, impact analysis and risk management.

Establish and implement a strategic vision and plan to support quality development and production standards and meet customer needs. Manage the tracking and reporting of application development progress, performance and productivity of the development teams and impact to the business; and develops models, reports and presentations that measure IT application development and implementation performance relative to business requirements and strategic objectives.

Responsible for delivery and support of software system solutions on a 24x7x365 basis, meeting all functional requirements of the business, Associates and customers.

Participates in the creation of the annual budget, including capitalized labor and expense labor and is responsible for the application team's budget oversight and performance with the dept.

Independently provides thought leadership in SDLC development methods. Demonstrates knowledge of the strategic alignment of IT solutions with business objectives and able to execute the SDLC lifecycle across the enterprise. Establish technical and architectural strategies, standards and direction based on exploitation and innovation of evolving technologies

Able to create and execute complex queries, integrations and data designs; communicates understanding of data modeling concepts their application: entities and tables, relations and constraints, attribute data types and column data types.

Coordinates RFP act ivies for potential vendor product/service

Reassesses existing vendor relationships to include benchmark vendor performance, reduce risk of vendor nonperformance, produce early problem resolution, perform risk assessment, and evaluate success factors for enterprise scaled projects.

Manages the application bug count (internal and external applications) to appropriate service levels and interacts with appropriate 3rd party application software providers to ensure that all releases are in considerations of the Company's "bug" and requirements needs.

Qualifications

  • The preferred candidate will have at least 10-15 years experience in successfully leading application development and managing the software lifecycle/maintenance of complex cross-platform business applications in a multi-channel retail organization.
  • Experience with retail eComm applications and systems are required. Additional applications are considered a plus.
  • Solid background in applications development methodologies and other IT industry standards.
  • Strong customer service and conflict mgmt skills that can be applied in providing support and direction to team members, key business and IT staff leading projects and demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge of organization for problem solving and business decision-making.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, planning, prioritizing, organization and management skills.
  • Intuitively able to identify and evaluate strategies to mitigate associated risks.
  • Able to effectively communicate the technical and architectural strategy, standards and direction to internal and external entities with varying technical knowledge.
  • Ability to deliver by managing through others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Change agent, results oriented and operations focused.
  • BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • MBA (preferred)
