West Marine (Nasdaq:WMAR), the country’s largest waterlife outfitter, announced today that they are looking for Long Island marine-based non-profits to become beneficiaries of “Cruising for a Cause” charity night. Set for Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the event will take place in West Marine’s newly expanded and redesigned West Islip store, located at 147 Sunrise Highway. At 25,000 square feet, this will be West Marine’s first flagship store in New York State.
In keeping with West Marine’s mission of conserving marine habitats and supporting local boating non-profits across the country, West Marine is eager to work with Long Island-area charities that serve the local boating, fishing, paddling, sailing and marine environmental communities.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from ticket sales to the “Cruising for a Cause” event will go to local non-profits. West Marine holds similar events around the country that support youth boating programs, beach clean-ups, and organizations that preserve local marine life, among others.
For the $10 ticket “Cruising for a Cause” attendees will enjoy food, beverages and entertainment. For full details on how to apply to participate in “Cruising for a Cause” e-mail email@example.com.
