The festivities kicked off on March 20, 2014, with a surprise ribbon cutting by the flagship’s first customer, Long Island local resident and lifelong boater Tammy Jaggi. The celebration continued on Thursday evening with the “Cruising for a Cause” charity night, which raised more than $13,000 for local maritime organizations and non-profits. More than 500 customers turned out to shop as they enjoyed live music, local oysters from Blue Island Oyster Farm, raffle items and a live auction. Among the big ticket auction items was a fishing trip with Captain Ralph Wilkins of National Geographic Channel’s hit series, “Wicked Tuna.”
From Friday through Sunday, the weekend’s events continued with special in-store appearances, autograph signings and meet and greets with “Wicked Tuna’s” Captain Ralph Wilkins and deckhand Nick Mavar from Discovery Channel’s hit show, “Deadliest Catch.” Customers were also treated to a mini boat show, free daily product demos and informative seminars from boating and fishing experts as they shopped storewide grand opening deals and discounts.
