West Marine, the world’s largest waterlife retailer is celebrating the grand opening of its new flagship store in Braintree, MA from Thursday, June 26 at 8 a.m. through Sunday, June 29. In-store events will include tips from experts, electronics demos, door-buster deals, giveaways and raffles. The new Braintree store is located at 140 Ivory Street, in Ivory Plaza Shopping Center.
On Thursday night from 6 to 8 p.m., West Marine is hosting “Cruising for a Cause” charity night to raise money for Boston-area marine non-profits. Participating organizations will receive 100% of all ticket sales and split proceeds from a raffle of an assortment of waterlife items. Special guest Capt. Ralph Wilkins from National Geographic’s Wicked Tuna television show will be on hand to share fish tales and sign autographs. A live auction will feature exciting items such as a four-hour charter with Capt. Ralph on his boat Odysea, a Boston Harbor boat cruise donated by Freedom Boat Club and a standup paddling package. The marine nonprofits West Marine is partnering with include: The Fishing Academy, Leukemia Cup, Community Boating, Cohasset Sailing Club Junior Program, Massachusetts Striped Bass Association, Boston Family Boat Building, Jones River Watershed Association, Sustainable Braintree, Nantucket Lightship and New England Disabled Sports. $10 tickets for Cruising for a Cause include a drink and light hors d'oeuvres and are available at the West Marine Braintree store or through participating organizations.
