Anchor Rollers & Mounts

For all but the smallest of boats, bow anchor rollers are an essential piece of hardware used to lead an anchor’s rode over the bow so that it does not chafe on the boat. In addition to this purpose, channeled anchor roller assemblies are frequently used as an anchor mount to securely store an anchor at the bow where it is available for immediate use. If you plan on using your anchor roller for this purpose, be sure to select a design that works well with the anchor you have. Available models include different designs that work well with fluke, plow and spade style anchors.
Anchor Mounts and Chocks
Boats that do not store their anchor in an anchor roller often employ anchor mounts or chocks to securely stow an anchor when it is not in use. Deck chocks are often used to stow fluke-style anchors flat against a deck. Bracket style anchor mounts are frequently used to stow an anchor suspended from the bow pulpit or the stern push-pit of boats.
Chain Stoppers and Anchor Rode Tensioners
In addition to anchor rollers and mounts, West Marine offers a number of related products designed for use with anchors and windlasses. These include chain stoppers and anchor rode tensioners.
Chain stoppers are mechanical devices that grab onto a link of chain so that you can take the tension off a windlass. They are very strong and mounted in line between the windlass and the bow roller.
Anchor line tensioners create tension on an anchor chain and/or shank so that it doesn’t slam around as the boat goes into the waves. Their cam action design enables lots of pressure to be applied. This is a stowage aid that is not to be used while at anchor.
Replacement Bow Roller Wheels
Bow roller wheels are heavy plastic wheels that can replace existing wheels, or can be used if someone wants to build a custom anchor mount. They are made out of an incredibly tough material that is abrasion resistant.
