Using wide light emission LEDs, new Firefly PRO strobes cut through the foul conditions with a super-bright flash visible for over three miles. Activation is automatic when immersed in water, and it can be manually activated as well. With three activation functions, select between the ultra-bright strobe light or the SOS strobe to visually alert Search and Rescue of your location, and toggle to the Steady-On feature for close-up recovery operations. The cool white color of the LED strobe has no yellow tint, allowing the light to be seen at greater distances. With the latest microprocessor and energy efficient electronics, the Firefly PRO operates continuously for over 56 hours—48 hours longer than SOLAS/USCG regulations and twice as long as similar-looking competitors.

Comments about Acr Electronics Firefly Pro Waterbug SOLAS Personal Rescue Strobe, Automatic Activation:
I have 9 expired flares sitting in a drawer on my boat, sealed in 3 heavy plastic bags. Unless I get them wet, they will probably last for many years to come. But of course they are designed with built in obsolescence. They expire and you are forced to buy 3 more. Want a nice tidy package that never expires? (outside of replacing batteries) The Firefly Waterbug is for you. Produces the SOS signal that makes them legal as a Coast Guard approved distress signal. The light is water activated and water proof and is small and easily attached to your PFD. A lot more useful when treading water than a bag full of flares. And a lot safer to use around gasoline or propane! My flare days are behind me. Owning several boats, I transport the one unit from boat to boat along with my handheld VHF. Glad I bought it !!
