I replaced the OEM horn on my 1984 Sea Ray SRV210 cuddy with this horn. Thankfully, it has the same footprint making installation easy. I did have to butt splice wires from boat to new horn, but that's another easy task.

The trumpet on the orginal horn was plastic. The the trumpet on this horn is metal, a nice improvement. The overall finish of the horn is very good and it looks great on my boat.

I removed another similar horn and installed this one. It installed easily with a cordless drill and wiring was simple. After about 3-4 weeks, one of the trumpets stopped working. Since each trumpet has it's own wires, I isolated each to check and found that one trumpet just wouldn't work. Now I get to unwire and remove the horn AND drive it back to West Marine for an exchange.

Comments about XL Plus Trumpet Horns:

I have purchased these horns several times because they were the original design on my Sea Ray. Consider them to be disposable. Expect to get 1 - 3 seasons out of them at best. When they fail the first tome, remove the round decal on the back of the housing and open it up. Clean the contacts and note that there is an adjustment screw. Adjusting the screw may get them working again for a few more months. I eventually left the non functional horns in place for aesthetics and bought an air horn for function.

first purchase lasted 2 weeks, one horn quit, replacement lasted 1 year, both horns quit, bought another brand from WM called seafit, also lasted 1 year (looks identical to these). Open horn ,shows no corrosion, they just stop working. Call service center as suggested and stay on hold, never got any satisfaction, long time west marine consumer, not anymore. Bought competitor horn and still working.

Comments about XL Plus Trumpet Horns:

The S/S body holds up well over many years, but the horn mechanism stops working. Needs better diagnositics for the boater to test horn other than the wiring hookup. Need way to test why it stops working in the sound making mechanism, diagrams, etc.
