Works well, but not professional quality

Comments about Mini Pocket Butane Torch:

It works pretty well for heat shrink tubing. The deflector keeps the heat away from any nearby wires or whatever. It can get pretty hot with sustained use, so it works best for small jobs. Even so, it is easy to burn your finger. The child safety lock is a pain, but that is nothing new...

I've had one of these for years. I overheated it, the plastic melted a bit, and the tip kind of sagged, but it still worked fine. Lately though, the screen at the tip (that contains the flame) has partially disintegrated and come loose. It guess it's time to replace it. The price has come down $6 since 2005, when I bought my original one. Just trying to decide whether to get this exact duplicate or spend the extra money and get the deluxe version (not available at West Marine).

Great torch. Works well with one hand, strong flame, and burns line really easily. I definitely would buy this one again. Just remember to buy the Butane!

Comments about Mini Pocket Butane Torch:

Hard to handle with one hand due to the way the safety button works.. The propane cigarette lighter inside sometimes loosens and you cannot get a good seal in order to light or even keep the flame consistant
