Comments about B&G Zeus Touch T7 Network Multi-Function Display:
B & G Zeus 7 touch unit failed to function correctly from new with numerous issues: On start up blank screen, chart would miss areas of detail data on screen leaving "holes", and 4G radar would not appear on display. Internal GPS was not good and would lose position even mounted outside in cockpit so if you need accuracy then you need to purchase the external GPS at minimum. The MFD was purchased specifically to support 4g radar and 50% of time the MFD would show no radar. When radar did work then the close range detail was good, mid range average but long range and squall spotting was poor. Large blind spot behind when mast mounted ( which the pulse radar in same mounting position did not have) The other good thing I can say is it was easy to install. BUT Customer service from Navico was appalling and be warned if you plan to buy this plug and play unit and self install the Navico customer support will blame any defects on installation.
Service and delivery comments:
Easy to install from box but it came without bracket and accessory cables of usable length so had to order extra cables. From the start the unit began to malfunction and technical support immediately blamed self installation and lack of correct voltage. The unit was installed by degree level qualified Electronics Engineer with 25 year experience of repairing electronics at component level so checking there was adequate 12 volt supply was child's play. The boat had a brand new bank of Gel batteries and smart regulator. The local approved B & G technicians had no hands on knowledge of the B & G Zeus touch series nor the 4g radar and were unable to suggest they they could do more than check 12 volt supply, they had no units or cables to substitute to diagnose the fault and so their solution would be to ship the units back to the factory which would take 5-6 weeks. The technical phone support was unhelpful at the best and rude at the worst. technical believed if the 12 volt supply was good the mfd would be the problem and so I purchased a second unit at my own cost to substitute as Navico did not even have any stock in their own warehouse and this unit displayed different faults but still failed to display radar. At this point my credit card company advised me to return all items as not fit for purpose. It took months of emails, phone calls before I finally got the majority of my money refunded. I would like to make it clear that West Marine customer service and support were impeccable and not at fault in any way.
