Failed after 3 years of very light use

Comments about Bep Marine 701-s Mini Selector Battery Switch:

My Century 2400 came with 4 BEP battery switches. All 4 failed within 3 years. My boat has 120 hours in 4 years. The last switch was for the a/c system and had been turned perhaps 20 times total. It failed in the same manner as the others: the cheap plastic posts that held the switch together in the back broke apart so the back came apart. The switch would still rotate but felt weak and loose. If I had remembered that this switch was in the cabin, I would have replaced it 2 years ago when the others started failing.

Pass on this cheap plastic design and get a better quality product. Otherwise expect to replace within 3 or 4 years.

Breaks easily when you tighten the studs

Comments about Bep Marine 701-s Mini Selector Battery Switch:

This unit is OEM in my Yamaha boat. After adding an additional component the switch failed when I tightened a stud. West Marine did not have this switch in stock so I bought a Blue Seas switch which appeared to be much stronger and better built. When I tried to use the Blue Seas switch I could not because the studs are much larger on the new switch and I would have to change out every terminal connection on every wire that connects to the switch. So I have to settle for this inferior product. Just make sure you support the stud on the inner bolt with a second wrench as you tighten it or it will twist the inner connections and destroy the switch.

I have a 35' Triton Center Console with Twin Yamaha F350 HP Engines. These switches will fit into tight spots but do not hold up well. Only gor 3 to 4 years life between replacement. Would not recommend if you have an option, Go with the Perko

Comments about Bep Marine 701-s Mini Selector Battery Switch:

I have a 2005 Pursuit with twin's and have had both the port and starboard shafts break off on the BEP 701-S. I understand that they had a manufacturing issue in 2005 that was corrected. I now carry an extra BEP 701-S on board since I do do have enough room to switch over to a better quality product like the Perko.
