Product Description

Penetrates, lubricates and protects

This combination of solvents, lubricants and waxes was designed to penetrate, lubricate and protect surfaces, and to displace moisture. It dries to a thin, waxy, corrosion-preventing film that clings to metal for months. It will loosen rusty and corroded parts and is safe on paints, plastics and vinyls. Aerosol spray gets into cracks and crevices.

This stuff does the job. Leaves a durable, wax like coating on the surfaces of concern. It will withstand several spray downs, and has kept my engine from corrosion in saltwater.

Works great on protecting motor from corrosion. Lubricant is effective and lasts.
I use on everything that can rust. I even spray undercarriage of my RV with it once a year to protect from salt and rust. Awesome product.

Comments about Boeshield T-9 Spray Lube:

I have used Boeshield on and off over the last 20 years for rust protection. Its pretty good.

It is easy to spray on and comes with a little red straw, and it dries to a waxy film, so there is no wet, oily residue after a couple days. It works good on already clean, non rusted steel, and seems to last a couple months if kept out of the weather and especially out of the sun.

If you spray Boeshield on already rusting steel, that is out doors and subjected to the weather/salt spray, you will see the steel starting to rust again after only a few days. Yes, it suprised me too.
Since Boeshield contains solvents that evaporate fairly quickly, leaving a waxy coating behind, active rust underneath the coating will continue to grow, even though it is sort of sealed under the wax. Boeshield DOES NOT stop rust on already rusting metal. It just kind of slows it down... a little bit.

The only anti-corrosion liquids/films that really stop rust that already exists on the metal are the ones that stay wet (slimy). Active (wet) coatings eventually creep down through the rust, all the way to the base metal and seal out water and oxygen, stopping existing rust and protecting the good metal underneath. Also wet coatings are always active, and in a sense, self-healing as the film spreads out and migrates beyond it's application point. The big drawback to always-slimy corrosion sprays/oils is that they are always slimy, and anything that touches them will get the slimy stuff transfered to it. Think of metal coated with oil… it won't rust, but you can't really touch it.. or have anything else touch it.

So there is no magic bullet. I would use the slimy/active/wet corrosion fluids on things that do not need to be handled or touched, and use a waxy/semi-dry spray coating like Boeshield on the other clean non-rusty steel that I want to protect and may end up touching.

The best spray product for salt water protection on marine engines, inboards and outboards. Keeps trailer lug nuts from rusting, spray each time the traier go in and out of salt water.
