Underneath the attractive wood inlays on the deck of this board lies the heart of a fishing SUP that likes to surf as well!
When it gets right down to it, there's hardly anything BOTE's Flood Classic Fishing SUP doesn't do and do well. By packing a lot of features into this smaller board, BOTE has designed an SUP that's not only a great value, it's also lighter so it's more maneuverable for smaller paddlers, easier to carry and store, and perfect for fishing, surfing and all-around recreational paddling. A large volume and "surf-style" shape makes this board truly versatile whether you're new to stand-up paddleboarding or already a veteran. It will comfortably transport a combined weight from you and your gear of up to 230 pounds. The tapered nose and 5" rocker creates little drag for surprising speed and easy paddling. The Flood Classic SUP achieves timeless style with its wood inlays. Not only does the wood provide an aesthetic quality, it also adds to the board's strength. But what really makes this SUP rock is how easily you can outfit your Flood with a wealth of options to make it uniquely fit your preferred activity and then change it up as your needs evolve.
Hull
A fiberglass shell with wood veneer inlays and an expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam core is formed into a double concave hull. The Flood is a hybrid between a recreational surf hull and a displacement touring hull with a tapered nose that glides effortlessly through both flat water and surf. At only 4 1/2" deep and an incredibly light 28 pounds unladen, the Flood will let you paddle into waters that were previously too shallow for you to pursue your quarry.
Deck
The wide 30" deck makes a sturdy platform for aggressive paddling, plus casting, fighting and landing trophy fish if that's what you're after. It's also here on the deck that the Flood really stands out.
Built-In Features
Starting at the bow, there's an integrated bungee strapping system that keeps your dry bag (sold separately) and other essentials on your board and above the water.
As you make your way further onto the deck you'll find it covered with a texture that is heat embossed onto the surface of the foam, not only providing incredible grip and comfort, but eliminating water absorption, making the board lighter and faster than traditional deck pads.
Next up is a feature you'll wonder how you ever did without—the Stashpod. Watertight storage, an integrated bottle opener and a place to keep your favorite beverage from tipping over makes the Stashpod a popular amenity.
You'll find the centrally located grab handle has been designed to ensure your fingers won't go numb and you'll have plenty of leverage to carry your board to the water.
Cooler tiedowns are added that feature a swivel action to allow the strap angle to adjust for optimum pressure distribution (you don't want your Yeti [sold separately] floating off full of your favorite beverages).
Then, receivers for BOTE's unique Tackle Rac (sold separately) that can turn your Flood into a fishing skiff are positioned so you have even more places to mount accessories you can't live without.
Integrated latch points in the rail of the board are part of BOTE's patent pending Travelink™ Carry System. By simply clicking in the Travelink™ Sling (sold separately) to the latch points, you can remove all weight from your hands and carry the board more safely and ergonomically with your shoulders and back. The best part is it's permanently flush mounted into the rails—when you aren’t using it, you won't notice it. There is zero effect on the paddling dynamics. The Travelink™ latch points can also be used to lock and secure your board.
A Gore-Tex® Vent Plug keeps the inside of the board (the core) an air/water tight environment. It vents the board automatically so air bubbles don't get trapped between the foam core and the fiberglass shell and cause de-lamination.
And finally the all-important leash attachment point at the tail so you won't be separated from your Flood for long.
Underneath is an included stabilizer fin that helps your board track straight on flat water excursions.
Volume
When deciding on an SUP, you'll want to choose a board with adequate volume. This can be the difference between gliding smoothly across the surface or spending your time fighting that very real sinking feeling! With its 30" wide beam and 4 1/2" depth, adequate volume isn't a problem for the Flood. You'll find this board will float you and your gear (up to a combined weight of 230 pounds) with plenty of flotation to spare.
Shape
The wide platform provides the stability you need to paddle confidently in a variety of conditions, while the surf-style shape makes carving waves a fun option.
Remember to order an SUP paddle, leash and life jacket (all sold separately) so you'll be ready to start fishing (or surfing) as soon as possible!
