Comments about C. Sherman Johnson Grab-N-Go Mooring Hook:

I have used a number of different mooring products before I tried this one. It is a bit pricy, but I thing it is worth the cost.

It is easy to hook onto a mooring ball, and quicker to release.

Due to the design, I would not use it for long term mooring, or in rough water. Once it is connected to a mooring, it is then easy to add another line through the mooring ring for extra safety. Often, it is the hardest part to grab the ring on the first pass, and this unit solves that problem. I normally don't like having only a nylon line connecting the boat to a mooring, since in heavy weather, the line may part. Using this SS 316 hook gives me some extra safety.

Comments about C. Sherman Johnson Grab-N-Go Mooring Hook:

No this is easy deployed to grab the ring on a mooring ball quickly and secure the boat until you bring aboard the painter (if one is attached to the mooring ball.) If there isn't a painter or bridle, we launch or dinghy and fasten our own bridle (with shackle and chain to prevent chafe) for a secure over night attachment.

When leaving the mooring this hook is released last after casting of the mooring pendant (or retrieving our own bridle). This van be done from the deck and under load.

        Excellent product.

I would recommend buying an extra attachment for your second boat hook.

Comments about C. Sherman Johnson Grab-N-Go Mooring Hook:

I thought the Grab N Go would solve my mooring pick-up & release issues. It does work easily. HOWEVER... there is some fine print which I didn't read. This device is sufficiently unreliable that you shuld NOT use it for unattended (long-term or overnight) mooring.

Comments about C. Sherman Johnson Grab-N-Go Mooring Hook:

The attachment on the boat hook is small and boat hook can be used as normal with it on. Easy to grab the top ring on a mooring and very easy to release. Heavy duty strong hook, so heavy it chipped the gelcoat when the crew dropped it on the deck.
