We now have two of these fans and love them. They are about as quiet as a fan can get, and still do the job. Only notice them at all on a completely still night. If they were loud, my wife couldn't sleep with them on - and at this point she can't sleep with them off! We are totally solar powered so current draw was initial in going to the budget to include these jewels. They don't use anything! The designers were genious when they engineered the power factors. They will point in absolutely ANY direction we want, and then they will fold up out of the way. Unless you are standing them up vertically from the base, do not use the adhesive tape for install. Hanging will need screw mounting.

I bought 5 or 6 of these and installed one in my camper, and the rest were intended to go in my boat.

I have to hand it to the French for designing a built in timer that shuts this off after a period of time--2, 4, or 6 hours. This is perfect for the Carbibbean where nights start hot and get cooler.

It is on a gimballed mount--this is where it fails. Using it pointed it one direction causes damage to the contacts inside the housing, or perhaps the wires break at this point--I did not take it apart to see which of these is the case.

So after a while you have to point it away from where you want it pointed to work. At some point I expect it will fail completely.

After only minimal use, it would not spin the fan blade in certain poitions. At first I could give it a little push to get started, then today, it will not spin at all umless I point it 90 degree from where I want the breeze. So those contacts have either worn out, shorted, or arced and built up carbon deposits. Clearly the weak point is the lack of conductivity on the contacts inside the housing. Or else if wires are used, these cannot tolerate the fan being adjusted and the wires are breaking.

The fan I am using now failed in 3 months of use, neaarly all of it on the lowest setting. This setting is quiet and still moves a lot of air. Since it automatically shuts itself off after 2 hours, the number of hours is minimal. I rarely set it to operate more than two hours at a time.

The photo's show, it has power because the little blue light is on, but will no longer push any air unless you fiddle with the adjustyments for direction.

If someone knows of a reliable fan that will last for years please let me know.

I will be returning all of them, including the others which are unboxed because I don't want them to be out of warranty from sitting in a box waiting to be installed.

The attached photos show it energised and spinning and also not working with a slight change in angle. The range in angles were it does not work is fairly wide. The opivot point at the top and bottom of the fan is the problem area.

Ok, I will admit, the metal will rust and the contacts on the Sirocco fans will do the same, and I thought, I will try the Caframo Maestro fans instead, since these Sirocco fans tend to have their problems. Ill never forsake this Sirocco fan again, the Maestro fans are terrible. Sirocco has its cons, but in comparison, ill put my money here, thank you.

              Comments about Sirocco Cabin Fans:

we live aboard our sailboat and use the fans often. They have about a one year life span due to the poor design of contacts which wear and corrode. If this design flaw were fixed I could recommend this product but not as it is now.
