Comments about 2000 SP Series Electronic Chargers with Battery Type Selector Switch:

While working on board my boat the last week of 2013 I heard a sizzling sound and glanced toward my battery charger. I observed a wisp of smoke rising out of it. I turned off the breaker powering the charger and removed its cover. A burn covering a small portion of the internal board could be seen. The charger which failed was a Charles Industries C-charger 2000. Under most conditions this would a source of complaint but I must add that I installed this charger on board my boat around 15 years ago and it has been working for the most part 24/7 this entire time. I was pleased to order a new Charles Marine 2000 SP 20 amp capacity to replace the now retired unit. Any electronic device which can operate with no problems for that length of time in a marine environment is well worth it. Fine quality, excellent workmanship and extreme durability as well as MADE IN AMERICA makes this a highly recommended piece of equipment. I have three banks of gulf cart lead acid batteries which the original unit had been charging this entire time.
