Comments about Spar Fly Wind Vane:

This will be my third Spar Fly wind vane in 5 years for my sailboat. I like the bright color and responsiveness to light winds. The vane will become brittle from exposure to the sun each season so it must be handled with care while raising and lowering the mast. Definitely remove the vane while trailering. I am happy to have a new vane for this sailing season.

Comments about Spar Fly Wind Vane:

Does what it's supposed to do. Much less expensive than other models of wind vane. The plastic vane is also easy and inexpensive to replace when UV degrades it. Suitable for small trailer able sailboats.

Comments about Spar Fly Wind Vane:

This wind vane will bleach out in bright sunlight very quickly when boat is left "mast up" for a few weeks. An aerosol can of flourescent Day Glo paint quickly restores it to 'as new' condition as well as blocking additional UV damage. The plastic also gets brittle and a slight bump when raising or lowering the mast can fracture it. Plan on two seasons..max.
