Pros

    Cons

    • Not For Sailboats
    • Radio Frequency Interfere

    Best Uses

Comments about Polar Star 40 LED Replacement Bulbs:

These lights spew radio frequency interference (RFI). If you place one near your VHF antenna (such as at your masthead), you should expect it to obliterate your VHF reception. See attached spectragraph of the RFI measured in a screen room.

They also fail to meet the vertical sector brightness for sailboats required by COLREGS: +/- 25 degrees. If your sailboat heels past 19 degrees, the light will vanish on the lee side of your boat.

      • Runs Cool

      Cons

        Best Uses

Comments about Polar Star 40 LED Replacement Bulbs:

If you're like us, any trip up 100' mast in a bosun's chair is something to be avoided. These lights are easy to install, last practically forever, and use 1 watt vs. 20 watts for the old filament style. Power saving, long lasting, pop-in, bright, and practically no heat. What more could you ask for(-alright they are not free). Still a sound investment.
