I bought an EN240 for a fishing trip to Cabo San Lucas, East Cape, and La Paz. I drove my own pickup truck down to Cabo San Lucas in August, 2016. Every day was hotter than 95 degrees and the cooler was in the sun the entire time. I bought enough BLOCK ICE in La Paz, Baja California Sur, to fill the ice chest and there was more than 50% ice left in the cooler after five full days in the direct sun. The cooler was in the sun the entire time because once filled it was too heavy for me to unload it by myself from my truck. It performed awesome in very hot conditions.

I bought my cooler just over a year ago or so, and while I use it almost daily, leaving it in the bed of my truck with Gatorade, water, sodas, etc...my son plays a variety of sports, I have had problems with it from the start. It does not hold ice for more than a couple of days, and all of the you tube videos show it holding up to five days, and Florida is just as bad as Alabama (that's were a few of the videos were shot). On the very positive side, customer service was great. The problem is that my lid never got an airtight seal, so customer service sent me some new adjustable latches, but from the start they had to be tightened to the max and are now stretching a bit. I've recently been trying the slow drip seal solution, but that only made me realized my problem is worse because I sat on it the other day and I immediately heard a sucking sound as it drew a vacuum seal with my weight on the lid. The moment I got up, I heard the air going out. In all fairness, I have not given the guys in cust. svc a chance to make it good again as I just recently realized how bad it was. They also told me to take the seal out and flex it then reinstall, but I have been reluctant to do this thus far, as I see me creating more problems than I fix going that route. I think I just got a lemon and the cooler and brand are as good as the customer service. I say lemon, because when I first bought it, my 19 year old nephew noticed this lid appeared to be a bit warped which is why I first called the dealer who sold it to me. I got by for a while by using a pad lock on that side with a short enough shank to pull the lid down when locked, but still no vacuum. All in all a good cooler and great customer service, but it has been disappointing have these problems from the start when so much money was expended...for a cooler.

Have had the new ENG 35 cooler for about a month now and we love it. It keeps ice for a very long time. It's much bigger than I thought too.

          Terrible Latches Break Easily

          By Disappointed

          from USA

Comments about Engel High Performance Cooler, 35qt., White:

The DeepBlue cooler latches didn't last more than several uses on my 80. What good is a cooler that can't hold in the cold due to latches that break while you are camping or sailing. Not sure if this is covered by warranty yet or not, but even if it is, what is the value of a cooler that does not work after three years because the warranty does not cover the continuously breaking latches any longer?
