Commercial-grade autopilot technology that is now available for powerboats and sailboats.
The GHP Reactor series is the most responsive autopilot system that Garmin has ever offered. Features focused on sailboats or powerboats including heading hold, wind hold, tack/jibe, step turns and more are offered in all core packs. All you have to do is pick an autopilot that is most compatible with your boat’s existing steering system. If a compatible GHP Reactor isn’t available for a boat, an owner can use the GHP Reactor Mechanical/Retrofit/Solenoid that is compatible with a wide variety of hydraulic, cable and mechanical steering systems.
The GHP Reactor Mechanical/Retrofit/Solenoid autopilot core pack is ideal for sailboats and powerboats with direct- or cable-actuated steering systems. The below-deck installation gives a captain an extra set of hands he needs so he can safely tend to sails, lines winches and radios without worry. The unit mounts anywhere in any orientation and it requires minimal commissioning.
Key Features:
- Solid-state 9-axis Attitude Heading Reference System: With the solid-state 9-axis AHRS, the GHP Reactor can be mounted nearly anywhere in any orientation. The new system minimizes heading error, course deviation, rudder movement and power consumption, all while providing a comfortable ride for all passengers.
- Reacts to Conditions: The GHP Reactor responds to changing sea conditions to keep a boat on course. When the boat is pitching and rolling, you can remain confident that the GHP Reactor autopilot will keep you on course.
- Minimal Commissioning: All autopilots require commissioning and calibration, but Garmin made the process as fast and as easy as possible.
- Full Integration: When combined with a compatible Garmin chartplotter, the GHP Reactor gives a captain full control from wherever he is on the boat. In addition to holding its course in virtually all weather and wind conditions, the system can smoothly perform a variety of pre-programmed procedures. Add BlueChart® g2 Vision® charts (sold separately) to gain optional features such as Auto Guidance, which automatically steers GPS paths.
- The Shadow Knows: The GHP Reactor Mechanical/Retrofit/Solenoid autopilot core pack can add optional patented Shadow Drive technology. This gives you the security of knowing that you maintain control even when the autopilot is engaged. When you want to take over, Shadow Drive automatically disengages the autopilot if the steering wheel is turned. The autopilot re-engages as soon as the boat returns to a steady course.
- Total Control: Garmin packages the GHP Reactor with the GHC 20 control unit. Large 4” color glass-bonded display has an anti-glare finish and 170-degree viewing angle. It also has enhanced night time and daylight readability.
- Get Connected: The GHP Reactor Autopilot uses up to three GHCTM helm control units. The GHC communicates with the autopilot system via your NMEA 2000® network, so autopilot-heading data can be shared easily with other devices. This enables MARPA and chart overlay when connected to a Garmin chartplotter. An optional handheld wireless remote control is also available. For ultimate convenience, control the GHC using quatix®, the world’s first marine GPS navigation watch that features ANT+® wireless technology.
- Add More Peace of Mind: An optional GRFTM 10 rudder feedback sensor to further enhance the performance of the GHP Reactor Autopilot.
- Choice of Drives: One outstanding feature of this autopilot is that it works with such a wide range of boats. It’s available in three linear drives capable of operating numerous steering systems that fit almost any midsize to large vessel. No rudder feedback is required when the autopilot is paired with a Garmin linear drive. Following are the displacement designations for the three drives offered:
Class A Drive Unit: Up to 28,500 lbs. of displacement
Class B Compact Drive Unit: Up to 48,400 lbs. of displacement
Class B Drive Unit: Up to 79,000 lbs. of displacement
