This flagship marine navigator is missing just one thing - buttons. The GPSMAP 5208 features an unprecedented touchscreen interface, along with preloaded BlueChart g2 maps of the U.S. coast and an 8.4" screen that makes navigation as easy as pointing your finger. By connecting to the Garmin Marine Network, you can add sonar, radar and weather. For even more advanced features, you can add the optional BlueChart® g2 Vision card. For a low cost option try BlueChart g2 cards.
View Detailed Graphics and Video
The GPSMAP 5208 features highly-detailed BlueChart g2 marine cartography of the coastal United States, including Alaska, Hawaii and the Bahamas. For other areas, the 5208 has a worldwide basemap with high-quality satellite images in place of more traditional maps. With the SD™ card slot, you can add additional maps without having to connect to a computer.
The 5208’s large screen displays crisp, high-resolution graphics so you can easily see where you’re going. To keep tabs on your engine room or other area of your boat, you can also connect a live video feed with the 5208's video input/output options.
Add Extras with BlueChart g2 Vision
With the optional BlueChart g2 Vision SD card, you can add a whole new dimension of exceptional features to your chartplotter.
Connect to the Garmin Marine Network
The 5208 connects easily to the high-speed Garmin Marine Network, so you can interface with additional MFDs and add remote sensors. Once connected, you can share information between the 5208 and other chartplotters on your boat. You can also add high-powered radar, sonar, and XM satellite weather and radio to your system.

Comments about Garmin Gpsmap 5208 Network Chartplotter With U.s. Coastal Detail Maps, 8.4":
Having reviewed All major manufacturers of Chartplotters on the market today. I have found Garmin to meet or exceed all my major concerns. Easy to install, Phone support that answers questions quickly, accurately, and is willing to take their time. Easy installation, Current Technology includes both NEMA 2000 and their own Garmin network + support for older 0183 communication. They have all sizes from 15" down to this 8" display. (which was perfect for my limited in-dash area). Great for "Grow as you Need", e.g., use it as chartplotter and depth / fish finder then add Radar and many, many accessories as needed, easily and effortlessly via their Garmin Network or NEMA 2000 connectivity. Unlike other manufacturers like Raymarine -- they were easy to contact, quickly answered the phone and would make sure that you purchased the correct equipment to work with your boat Mfg and / or engine mfg. I only wish my Boat mfg held the wisdom of using the best, "Garmin" instead of some old technology like Raymarine (or should I say "Flir" who now owns Raymarine).
For the best equipment, whether large or small boat, Garmin has the right product, at a competetive price, and will support you now and in the future. Furthermore, Garmin is one of the only companies that are continually updating their marine Charts and maps for accuracy.
