Used this for several overnight trips with great success. Light lasted quite a while on low setting with the crank recharging it at a decent pace. The attachment and hanging sections worked well withotut adding bulk to the package. Have always used propane lanterns but this has convinced me to give LED technology a chance. The attention to details has left nothing to chance. The charging cord wraps perfectly and stays in place. It's nice to not have to worry about empty tanks and broken mantles. This will be the high water mark other LED lanterns will soon be compared with.

I bought this lantern twice. Yes, twice. The first time I got it from Amazon and the lens had a scuff mark on multiple sides, almost like it had been used before. I returned it for a new one and used it for the first time on the PCT with my son on a quick overnight backcountry trip. I clipped the lantern on the back of my 70L Gregory pack and was very happy with the light output and functionality of the lantern. The folding legs and ability to change the direction of the light output from one-side to two-sides is nice. I agree with the others that the USB cord is a bit short for recharging, but I think it was a design choice, since the lantern is only so large in diameter to have the cord self-store around itself. You're probably wondering, "so what's the problem". The problem is when I returned home I discovered the lantern was hanging lopsided because the metal hanging ring had come out of one side where its held in by the tension of the bent D-Ring shape. The problem is the metal is just to soft to hold its shape and any kind of tugging or pulling on the hanging ring will easily deform it and make it slip out of its sockets too easily. But, the major problem with the lantern is the lack of scratch resistance on the lens. My lantern came back from one trip with lots of scratch marks on the lens and although they don't block the light, they will eventually and it just makes the lantern look low quality and shoddy. Maybe GZ used plastic instead of glass for weight, maybe they used non-scratch resistant plastic on the lens, or maybe they just didn't test this aspect. The result is a great product with poor durability and craftsmanship. Not the usual GZ standards IMHO. For the price, I would have expected more.

8 days!

Comments about Goal Zero Lighthouse 250 Lantern & USB Hub:

I have been running a test od the 250 lantern. I fully charged it with the usb and turned it to tyhe lowest single side setting. I started this Jan 5th and it is still on! I did carefully back off the switch from what seems to be the low setting. I do agree that the battery indicators are not accurate - seems stuck on 2 blue lights. Good light - even the low light gives enough light to safely move around.

Comments about Goal Zero Lighthouse 250 Lantern & USB Hub:

I bought two of these for Christmas gifts. One for my daughter and son-in-law because they do a lot of camping. They are thrilled with its features. Another one I gave to my son, the deer hunter...he especially liked the option of the 180 degree beam.

Favorite Christmas Gift!

Comments about Goal Zero Lighthouse 250 Lantern & USB Hub:

I didn't buy this - I received it as a Christmas gift, on the same day storms blew out our power. It was meant to be! This is a fabulous lantern. Recharge by winding, charge up the phone, it is bright, the stand lifts it up to shed more light - well engineered, solidly built, a little piece of genius. Now my son on the east coast wants one. At least I know what to give him for his birthday.

worked great for awhile

Comments about Goal Zero Lighthouse 250 Lantern & USB Hub:

This lantern worked great, but then the battery level indicator began not turning off, and this causes the battery to deplete even while it's off. After a little time if not in use, it's completely dead. It worked great for over a year though.

Great light, came broken in the box

Comments about Goal Zero Lighthouse 250 Lantern & USB Hub:

I purchased this and when I pulled it out of the box, there is something in the bottom of this lantern that is rattling/banging around in the bottom black part. I did not expect poor construction/quality from Goal Zero on this one. The other con is it takes FOREVER to charge. I love the light that it kicks out and is very bright. I also like how you can direct and dim it to only 1/2 of it. It also has a nice little hand crack just in case.

Great for camping or emergencies!

Comments about Goal Zero Lighthouse 250 Lantern & USB Hub:

I bought my lighthouse last spring when my son joined boy scouts. It has been one of my go to items that I always have. It is dependable, the charge lasts longer than I thought it would, lightweight, most importantly I don't need batteries, fuel or wicks. My son's used it for a camp out and misplaced it somewhere in my house (boy will be boys) two months ago, I found it today and it still has the same battery level! It comes in handy during a power outage, or just cooking on my grill in the dark! I will probably buy a few more for my family just so they have them during any emergency.

Just returned from a week at our cabin; no electricity! Used our lantern every evening to read and every morning to cook. Returned home today to charge it and it was only half used up. Fantastic.
