Product Description

The third-generation floating radio from the company that invented floating radios. Compact, easy-to-use M24 is the smallest floating VHF radio yet, but it packs a punch with the biggest battery (1450mAh). Plus, it is nearly impossible to lose in the drink. If you drop your M24 overboard, it floats bottom-up, and its exclusive “Float ‘n’ Flash” feature alerts you with a bright LED on the radio bottom that begins signaling, even if the radio is turned off! Large, well-spaced controls and all the boater-friendly features ICOM marine radios are known for.

Comments about M24 Handheld Floating VHF Radio:

I snagged one of these for my job as a sailing instructor so that I could communicate with my other instructor and coordinate vessel traffic in my little bay. This thing was fantastic! One day we took our kids on a long sail and after our chase boats broke down we ended up being about 5-7 miles apart with land between us (a peninsula). The radios still could communicate and made our rescue efforts easier. I'm getting more for my new job at my new program

The waterproof charging port is a big plus. On previous models the contacts were exposed and would corrode.

Comments about M24 Handheld Floating VHF Radio:

Exposed for 6 hours to seawater. Fished a Kayak Tournament in big seas (for a kayak) the Icom VHF was partially submerged the whole time. Still had clear reception/transmission. I am very pleased with this unit and highly recommend it. The M24 is the smallest VHF I've ever used, with larger handheld performance.

Comments about M24 Handheld Floating VHF Radio:

I purchased this handheld VHF as an immediate term replacement for my broken installed VHF...and as a long term emergency redundant VHF. It's so easy to use, and so convenient, it's likely to be the VHF we always use...even after the installed VHF is repaired.

I used to have the wired ICom radio, but needed the space in my center console for a chart plotter. This is every bit as good as the wired version and much more convenient. I get crystal clear sound and very good range.

Comments about M24 Handheld Floating VHF Radio:

I am a kayak fisherman and felt uncomfortable being on the water, miles out, without any kind of communication. I researched radios and picked up the M24. Its light, clips on my PFD, and has a cord to secure it to the vest. I scan several channels, from the emergency channel to the weather. The marine weather is a huge thing to have at hand, it changes quickly. Being able to eavesdrop on other fisherman is convenient as well. I don't go with out my rods and reels nor my radio.

Comments about M24 Handheld Floating VHF Radio:

I purchased three of these radios all on same day.
Two out of three radios still work great. I have had them apoprox. 18 months and use them daily. One of the radios just stopped working. I sent it back to icom and was told it had a bad transistor and the part was $2.56. Initially icom said the total bill would be $88.00 with labor for a $2.56 part. I refused to pay. Customer service agreed to cut the labor half, however felt the amount was still excessive for what job entailed. Draw ur own conclusions.
