Comments about ICOM M506 Class D Marine Fixed-Mount VHF Radio with AIS Receiver, NMEA 2000, Rear Mic:
At first I though the Class AIS was not necessary. It makes perfect sense. ICOM has a readable screen, with your position, DSC, and a menu to inspect other vessels nearly via AIS. I would still want the separate AIS Class B transmitter ICOM makes for about $250 which transmits your position periodically.
