Decades ago boat paint was expensive and was frequently a disappointing waste: We used to recommend our builders use cheaper, better-performing hardware-store varieties. Not any longer! Boat paint can still be expensive, but it can sure deliver! Brightside is great stuff: flows on nicely, glosses amazingly, and we've seen it survive amazing conditions. It covers VERY well, so the justifiable expense is well worth it, in our estimation. The simple nature of the one-part linear polyurethane is super-easy. In fact, having compared this to Interlux's two-part, we would almost ALWAYS choose the Brightside one-part. The two-part paint doesn't cover anywhere near as well, is more trouble to prepare, and overall less satisfying paint to our mind. Granted, the two-part is really tough when cured, but the Brightside is fine paint and our choice for most situations.
Four of Five Stars as it is a bit expensive (although pretty much worth it) and the range of colors is limited (LOTS of great blues, a very nice red; the colors are aimed at boating, and they fit.) I have yet to try mixing colors to see how that works, and plan to as we have a couple projects which require more varied shades than are canned.
    Good stuff: Buy it!

Using a roller and foam brush, you can get a high gloss finish. I used on a number of sailboats including an Ice Boat which takes a lot of abuse on the ice.

Comments about Interlux Brightside Polyurethane Paint, Off White, Quart:

One part commercial grade paint makes it easy for repairs to fiberglass and other non-weather plastics exposed to weather. I use it on my 17 year old RV. The cost is reasonable considering the quality and ease of application. The cost of the thinner for cleaning brushes is too high which forces me to use MEK or acetone purchased anywhere.

Comments about Interlux Brightside Polyurethane Paint, Largo Blue, Quart:

I am restoring a surfski (sit on top narrow kayak). I decided to try Interlux Brightside one part paint.
I did start with a brush with straight paint and it was tough to keep it flows together. Then I tried roll and tip with 5% diluted
with Interlux 333, still tricky. Finally I have found right combo
with brush only and 10% diluted with Interlux 333. It came absolutely awesome, like a glass. Much easier to work with
since surfski is narrow, long (21') and round.
Also when applying and need to go back to fix a spot make sure wet the brush with paint.

I've followed the directions eight times and finally gave up using Interlux Brightside paint. It runs, dries too fast and thinning is even a bigger mess, no matter what percentage is used. This paint will probably spray okay but if you're using a brush, forget about it, it will not come out smooth, ever. Most difficult paint I've ever worked with in 45 years.

i am trying this for the first time on my johnson out board cowl to see how it holds up . in the past i have used the spray cans of out board paint and they would not hold up that good at all. i shot therr coats of paint on the cowl with a hvlp spray gun . this paint flows out really great at about 55psi . i put one light coat for the first coat and the second coat was a tack coat followed by the third coat which was a nice wet coat. so far the paint is drying with a very glossy look and i am very pleased with this paint.
