The first propane-powered outboard engines, LEHR motors present an environmentally-friendly and cost-effective alternative to gasoline. Overhead-valve four-stroke engines run on 110-octane propane, and are eco-friendly with zero evaporative emissions, because propane, unlike gasoline, is not listed as a marine pollutant by the DOT. Propane is 50-times cleaner than gas, with 96% less carcinogenic compounds, 60-70% less smog-producing hydrocarbons and no Class I or II ozone-depleting chemicals. It’s also domestically produced, reducing our dependency on foreign oil.

LEHR outboards are easy starting with no choke and no priming, reliable with no carburetor gum-up or winterizing, economical because propane costs roughly half as much as gas. Connect to a standard LPG tank with the provided 4' hose assembly for longer run times. 9.9hp and 15hp models connect only to remote tanks and are complete with a 10' hose assembly. Remote tanks are sold separately.

Electric Start with Internal Battery

Electric Start portable 9.9hp motors with internal starter battery that recharges while the engine is running. Your portable outboard remains portable—no rigging or clutter in your boat!

  • Weighs less than two pounds, making it 70% to 80% lighter than a traditional lead acid battery
  • Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePo) batteries are able to hold an unloaded charge for an entire year without compromising service life
  • Lifespan is up to twice as long as a lead acid battery
  • Dry and sealed—no maintenance or hazardous materials to worry about
  • Extremely low discharge rate making it an ideal choice for seasonal use
  • Recharges while you are running your engine
