I fish the Delaware river that is loaded with rocks and have spent well over $300 in prop replacements. Fortunately I have never damaged my lower unit which would have cost a lot more. I recently purchased the River Runner Prop Guard and was very please with its' simple but rugged design. I installed it in under 15 minutes and had my boat on the Delaware several times since. I hit some pretty large rocks and escaped with no damage thanks to the River Runner Prop Guard. I highly recommend this product, especially if you are a river boater.

What I gained in a shallow water insurance I lost in max speed. Installed on my 25 hp 2 stroke merc. And lost about 5- 8 mph. It does create a lot of drag but boat still gets on a plane fairly easy and still does 18-20 mph. I will gladlyose to the top end speed since I mostly use it for duck hunting. Good solid product but is a little pricey.

Comments about River Runner Prop Guard:

I do a lot of boating on the lower Colorado river, Parker Az to Blythe Ca. Shallow water and gravel bars are a constant concern. With the last several years of drought this has gotten worse. I saw this prop guard on another boat and immediately liked the idea. The cost was roughly 11/2 times a new prop for my out drive. West made it easy to order and obtain. Installation was quick and easy, about 45 minutes. I am in the process of training my youngest son to steer the boat and we hit bottom twice during this last week long trip. It worked perfectly, with no damage to the prop! So it has paid for itself the first time out!,
