Comments about Moeller Engine Spray Paint -Mercury Phantom Black 1960-Pres.:

Wanted to refinish a 2011 Mercury Verado 225 engine cowl that had started to fade. I went with this paint because it's got Mercury's name and phantom black on it. Bad move. The poor spray nozzle ruined all my sanding and priming by distributing lots of clumps in the finish. And it wasn't nearly as shiny as the original finish. In short, it looked horrible. So I waited a month for it to completely cure, then followed the advice on Youtube: I sanded it down again and used Rustoleum Glass Black Enamel. Better coverage, better spray consistency, great finish, and less than half the price. Yes, I'd used the light gray primer, as well. I would not recommend it, either, as it had the same poor spray consistency. Use Rustoleum dark gray primer instead.
