Although Perception's Pescador 10.0 Sit-On-Top Angler Kayak comes fully outfitted to start fishing, there's space to add even more gear as your budget (or significant other) allows. With a full load capacity of 325 pounds (including you and your gear), you'll be able to bring your trophy catches back to shore. Whether you're new to paddling or a seasoned veteran, the 10' length and 29" width gives this kayak great maneuverability, tracking and stability for even larger paddlers.
Why choose a sit-on-top over a sit-inside kayak for fishing? Options! It's easier to add accessories. You'll have a better view of the water (and potential obstacles) around you and it's also easier to get out and back in if you feel the need to wade. Some fishermen even like the ability to hang a leg over the side when dealing with a large fish. Since you'll be more open to the elements, expect to get wet. If the water's warm, wear clothing that dries quickly and protects you from the sun's damaging rays. If the water or air is cold, you'll want to wear gear that also provides extra warmth. Neoprene shoes or boots (sold separately) feel really good instead of cold, wet feet after a day out in the elements.
Hull Design
This kayak features an all-around hull design that is equally at home on flat water or small surf. Made of Perception's custom, high-grade polyethylene plastic with their distinct rotational molding process, you'll enjoy exceptional strength and durability. With its seamless, one-piece construction, the Pescador 10.0 is highly UV-, abrasion- and impact-resistant for years of trouble-free performance. The thickness is varied throughout the hull for extra strength when needed, but without the additional weight. These kayaks are actually easily repaired, recyclable and manufactured with less waste than conventional roto-molding.
Comfort
Perception's Comfort Seating System (CSS) features a removable padded seat that adjusts on the fly to keep you in the optimal paddling position. Molded-in foot wells give you multiple options for positioning your legs. You'll also find comfort carry handles at the bow and stern and on both sides of the cockpit for carrying your kayak down to the launch site or portaging around gnarly whitewater sections.
Fishing-Specific Features
The Pescador 10.0 is outfitted with features to make gearing up for your fishing trips a breeze. You'll find two flush-mounted rod holders behind the seat that can be used with any standard fishing rods, gaffs or landing nets. A Scotty Bait Caster/Spinning Rod Holder is mounted in front of the seat to securely hold your bait casting or spinning rod and reel. It's fully adjustable up and down and rotates 360 degrees so you can even use it for trolling. There's a convenient paddle park next to the seat to securely hold your paddle to free up your hands for fishing tasks.
Anchoring
Using a simple pulley system, the Pescador 10.0 kayak's anchor trolley allows you to easily position the included 3 1/2-pound anchor kit to adjust for current or wind so you can stay on top of that secret fishing hole without having to paddle back and forth.
Storage
Up front there's a bow hatch for stashing your dry bag, a jacket or lunch. Strategically-placed accessory pad eyes provide options for attaching a variety of items where they'll be easy to reach. Behind the seat there's a stern day hatch and a recessed storage well with bungee tiedown and scupper holes making it the perfect spot for your tacklebox, bait tank or cooler (all sold separately). And of course there's a molded-in cup holder (hard to find any mode of transportation without one of those).
