Comments about Perko Non-Locking Flush Latch - Chrome/Black with Offset Cam Bar:

This product is frequently used by boat manufacturers where an inexpensive flush mount latch is required. The design is simple and attractive, however the black plastic handle base which attaches to the latch mechanism via two machine screws has plastic threads which are a common failure point if even minimum pressure is applied trying to open a latched locker. Once the threads strip you will need to purchase the entire mechanism. Perko could have reduced the incidence of this ocurring by having threaded SS metal sleeves molded into the plastic. Perko does not sell the threaded handle base separately. I would recommend avoiding this product whenever possible and purchasing an all stainless model. Pricier but fewer headaches!
