Mercury GTX Solo Modular Sit-Inside Kayak
Snap! As in easy to put together, easy to take apart and easy to paddle!
The Point 65 Mercury GTX Solo Modular is a high performance, stable, decked touring kayak, but what makes it special is the way it breaks apart into three pieces for storing and transportation. The Mercury GTX features an innovative, patented Snap-TAP system for fast, easy, secure attachment when you're ready to paddle.
Easy as 1-2-3!
When disassembled, the Mercury GTX Solo's three pieces each weigh less than an easily-manageable 24.3lbs. For even easier stowing, the 42" nose section fits snugly into the cockpit. You'll be able to transport them to the water in your car trunk, SUV, crossover, mini van, hatchback or pickup and when you get home they won't take up as much room in your garage or shed.
Go Solo or Go Big!
Created by award-winning design engineer Magnus De Brito, the Mercury GTX Solo turns into a tandem performer just by adding a mid-section piece. For even more fun, get together with other Mercury paddlers and by simply snapping in their mid-sections you'll transform your solo tourer into a triple, quadruple...heck the record so far is a 100-man kayak!
Performance
The Mercury GTX Solo is a fast, yet comfortably stable and straight tracking kayak. The rotomolded polyethylene construction provides a combination of strength and impact resistance that most other materials can’t match.
Onboard Storage
There is lots of dry storage space with powder-dry hatches fore and aft. The round bow hatch is 9 1/2" x 9 1/2", while the oval stern hatch is a spacious 17 5/8" x 10 3/8". These easily accessible, watertight compartments will keep essential gear dry and out of the way. Bungee tiedowns on the deck allow you to stow more items within quick reach. And of course there are cup holders.
AIR Seat
The Mercury GTX Solo cockpit is equipped with an ergonomically designed AIR seat. The AIR seat, with pneumatically adjustable backrest, gives paddlers an extremely comfortable and perfectly adjustable seating position. Seat covers feature highly durable and comfortable, honeycomb patterned material combined with mesh-like fabric which is laminated and molded over EVA foam on the seat and back.
Comfort
The large size of the comfy padded cockpit makes for easy entry and exit and fits most paddlers. It is also equipped with foot braces, which provide for good leg support, and a comfortable paddling position. Add a spray cover (sold separately) and you can enjoy a dry ride even in rough conditions.
Keel Rudder Skeg
The Mercury GTX Solo comes complete with an efficient, ingenious keel rudder skeg featuring the innovative Symmetry Skeg System, which allows you to drop the skeg/rudder to tremendously improve maneuverability compared to conventional add-on rudders commonly found on other kayaks.
