The brass combination locks that West Marine USED to carry would last 5 to 10 years as a dinghy lock. They could handle immersion in salt water, and only needed a dose of WD40 once a month or so if they got sticky.
The Master lock froze up solid in less than 3 weeks, and I had to cut it off.
