For an entry level combination rod and reel, the Penn 320 combined with the Shakespeare Ugly Stick does the job quite well. A good deal for a modest price. It has handled all the cod, haddock & pollock, that I've caught, with ease. I would recommend this combo to anyone who wants to start out saltwater deep sea fishing, without spending a lot of money, and still have a quality rod & reel to use.
