Ultra-hard mirror finish stands up to tough outdoor conditions, and is guaranteed never to corrode. Endurance instruments will always look like new, even after long-term exposure to the elements. They never need polishing or refinishing. The weatherproof clock and barometer feature a silicone O-ring seated behind the beveled glass crystal for protection from water intrusion. Not only do these instruments hold up to harsh weather, they also feature a Slide ‘n Lock Mounting System that lets you lock in, or remove, each instrument easily from its special mounting plate to make adjustments or store it. Now, you won’t have to unscrew it from the bulkhead every time you need to replace the batteries.

I like never having to polish it. Although, perhaps the real brass tarnish would look vintage, who knows?

It's very useful to check the time and the tide, and looks so classy like the Titanic.

The clock stops and generally doesn't keep time. The mechanism is a cheap looking battery operated type that you could easily change out, but Weems & Plath service people will only honor the "Lifetime Warranty" if you ship the whole thing back to them and let them fix it. If they determine that you haven't abused the item or let the battery (hard to find replacement) corrode. I took the hands off and now it is a nice looking brass wall art piece. Matching barometer doesn't seem to work either - says the weather is going to change - duh.
