Description

D2 Rope Clutches

Allows controlled release under load

The award winning D2 Rope Clutch, built for big boat applications, allows for an easy and controlled release even at full holding power. Instead of just jamming the rope, the D2 clutch's Domino Cluster mechanism has a longer holding pattern for better grip and less rope wear. Full holding power is retained regardless of line type used, holding equally well on conventional double braids or Spectra, Dyneema, Vectran, and other modern lines. Fits line sizes from 5/16" (8mm) to 9/16" (14mm). Due to its variable geometry handle and the grip pattern of its dominoes, the D2 provides easy, controlled releases under load without fraying your lines.

  • Application: High load applications on boats to 55', low load and control lines on larger boats
  • Safe Working Load: 2650lb. (1200kg)
  • Grip: Domino Cluster
  • Height: 3.4"(88mm) Length: 6.14" (156mm) Width: Single 1.5"(38mm); Double 2.7" (68.5mm); Triple 3.9" (99mm)
  • Hole Spacing: 4.2"L x 1.2"W (107mm x 70mm)
  • Line Entry: 1.04" (26mm) Line entry and exit angle should not exceed 15° from center line. Line Exit: 1.3" (32mm)
  • Warranty: Three years

Comments about Lewmar D2 Rope Clutches:

I installed the D2 Clutch a few weeks ago. Installation was a breeze, although I did have to drill new holes for it. This was a lot easier than I expected, as the D2 allows for a decent amount of play in where the bolts are located.

Nuts, bolts and washers are not supplied.

The instructions are minimal, some more information on feeding the line would have been helpful. What is provided is a small pamphlet which has all necessary information for installation.

This clutch feels solid with no hangups while feeding and no play when under load. I am using 3/8" nylon and am very happy with the results.
