Autohelm Series ST1000 Plus & ST2000 Plus Tiller Pilots
Classic tiller pilot with powerful drive unit, improved waterproofing and advanced programming
Designed for tiller-steered sailboats to 10,000lb., the ST1000 Plus and ST2000 Plus can accept NMEA data directly for super accurate navigation to a waypoint. They’re the only tiller auto pilots with LCD displays as standard equipment. And their simple six button keypad—like all Autohelm series pilots—can be customized for optimal steering of a wide range of boats. Increased waterproofing starts with a double shaft seal made from silicone rubber, which keeps water at bay. Intelligent software minimizes battery draw by reducing unnecessary corrections. The ST2000 Plus is like the 1000 Plus but with a more efficient recirculating ball drive for larger boats and greater loads.

I do coastal sailing-single handed in a 25 foot boat a good deal. I used wind vanes prior to getting this unit. While I still use the vane often, I use the autopilot downwind and in tight situations (harbors, narrow channels, etc.). Yesterday I sailed 64 miles downwind using a chute and the autopilot handled it the whole time. Remarkable. Great unit.

Because the ST2000 plus can maintain the course, sailing can be done comfortably. I felt that there are a little a lot of angles when the tuck is done. If the tuck angle can be adjusted, it is convenient.

I have tried to calibrate this unit three different times. the first seemed ok but the unit hunted to much constantly making 5 to ten degree swings. the second time with help from raymarine failed. the third time seemed ok but you would be heading along just fine then it wouldall of a sudden make a hard stareboard turn.....

You can go sailing and Handel the sails with nobody helping you. Holds tiller when needed .I have one hooked up to a garmin 440s gets me to my way point safely.love this tiller pilot how did I sail without it!!!!.
