Extreme Series Smart Sensor Water Pumps
Designed specifically for cruisers, midsize and larger yachts, these pumps incorporate a special sensor that precisely monitors your systemÂ’s water pressure and adjusts the motorÂ’s speed, eliminating the need for a pressure switch and accumulator tank. TheyÂ’re built to thrive in the inhospitable marine environment, featuring seamless body construction and o-ring seals.
The four/five chamber design and large inlet and outlet passages maximize water flow, and provide “just like home” showers and pump operation offshore or at the dock. The 5.7gpm pump includes two straight 1/2" hose barb quick-connect “X-Fittings.” Run dry without damage. Ignition protected.

Have had three pumps, in a two year period.
First one melted the mechanical connection yet did not blow a fuse.
Second one quit working, unknownw reason.
Present one comes on and stays on until the pressure switch is tapped with a screwdriver handle,
needless to say it drained my water tanks, have had a horrible experience with this pump. West Marine has been outstanding.

I paid a lot for their "extreme" series pump and it died after two seasons(one year of use). West Marine replaced it witha new one, and it died after one season. Now the company says that although their warrant specifically states three years from date of manufacture, that the warranty only goes back to the original purchase date. West Marine is the only saving grace in this whole mess, as they are going to replace it with a comparable pump. From the looks of the other reviews I am not alone. Don't buy these pumps!!!

This is the fourth pump I have installed in 6 months. Works anywhere from one day to a few weeks but justs quits leaving you high and dry.
Can't believe they still sell it. It has happened to everyone I have talked with at the marina and I have talked with a lot of people and boat dealers with the same problem. ridiculous.
