Description

600W Marine Wind Turbine

Precision-molded, aerodynamic fiberglass blades ensure quiet performance and minimal vibration. Turbine output is 3 phase AC, reducing power loss over longer wire lengths, that is then converted to DC at the controller. Microprocessor-based controller provides voltage regulation of either 12 or 24V output, peak power tracking, and silent stall control in high winds (see more info below). At sea the increased blade tip angle improves ability of blades to both engage wind at low speeds as well as shifting the point at which blades would typically flutter in high winds to a point above the rotational speed allowed by the unit's electronic controls. In port, hysteresis braking locks the turbine in a silent regulation mode once the batteries are fully charged, preventing the turbine from fluctuating in and out of regulation mode. The result is quieter, more unobtrusive operation both under sail and when docked. The tail-fin of this marine turbine model is designed to better stabilize the unit in marine wind environments. Model 12036265 Turbine pole kit features a marine-grade powder coat for superior protection from the elements.

Turbine specifications:

  • Number of blades: 3
  • Blade diameter: 52"
  • Voltage: 12/24V
  • Watts: 600W
  •  Cut-in speed: 4mph
  •  Overspeed protection: Electronic @ 1400rpm
  • Dimensions: 7"L x 5"W x 10"H

The included Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) charge controller enables the 600 watt marine turbine to achieve its highest possible performance by periodically tracking the maximum power point of the turbines output. The MPPT can be used with battery systems of either 12v or 24v DC. The controller features a corrosion and water resistant heat sealed casing to insure longevity in the marine environment. MPPT controller features include 12 / 24 volt automatic detection system, temperature-compensated and three-stage charge regulation, fully waterproof design, inline 40 amp fuse, and a manual/automatic braking system.

Controller LEDs;

  1. Power on (Green); illuminates when the turbine, MPPT, and battery are connected
  2. Charging/Discharging (Green); illuminates when the turbine begins charging cycle. Under 12V the LED will blink. When the turbine is in brake mode or during prolonged periods of inactivity the LED may blink to show a small discharge from the battery
  3. Protection (Red); illuminates when either the brake is manually activated, or internal safety mechanism is activated. Under manual braking the LED may blink

The MPPT charge controller is a sophisticated multi-stage battery charger that uses several regulation stages to allow fast recharging of the battery system while ensuring a long battery life. This process can be used with both sealed and non-sealed batteries. The MPPT will automatically set the charging regulation voltage set points (absorb & float) for the selected nominal battery voltage.

Controller specifications:

  • Power Output: 450 Watt at 12V (Max 450W) / 500 Watt at 24V (Max 600W)
  • Charge Voltage: 12V / 24V (auto detect)
  • Input Voltage: 5 - 75 Volts AC
  • Efficiency: >97-99%
  • Battery Type: 12V / 24Volt
