Comments about West Marine Coastal Automatic Inflatable Life Vests:
I bought one for my wife and one for myself, we actually wear them which is the best feature. They are very comfortable and light weight, the automatic inflation is very reassuring.

Comments about West Marine Coastal Automatic Inflatable Life Vests:
Excellent for boating as I actually wear it. Live in Canada but bought it at West Marine in the States as it goes for half price there. Don't care if it is not CSA approved, USCG approved is fine for me.

Comments about West Marine Coastal Automatic Inflatable Life Vests:
After over 20 years of sailing and boating, I purchased this primarily for racing sailboats. I am normally on the bow, and when offshore conditions are up, one just never knows what can happen. I've never come close fallen off a boat yet, but I've been tangled in spin sheets and had collisions where spin poles have swung violently just over my head. Now with two young kids, this vest is great insurance. This will also be great for my sportfishing boat too. Having always worn a regular PFD on my Hobies, this is much more comfortable and nearly unnoticeable. The only time it comes into play is when leaning over the rail for kelp checks. The clear plastic inspection window is an issue. One race day, and I wore a hole thru it. Some moleskin should help. Other than that, it is easy to use/activate, it includes a whistle, and it has a small zippered pocket for misc stuff.

Comments about West Marine Coastal Automatic Inflatable Life Vests:
this item is a real must for safety! so comfy it will be worn all the time. PFD's are not worth a hoot when in the bottom of the boat! recommended to me by two retired generals who had witnessed multiple drownings with vests lacking the automatic inflation feature. I purchased mine and two for my sons. i just returned from a Canadian trip where a PFD saved a canoeist who had a seizure.

Instructions to find and install the CO2 cartridge were clear.
We bought 2 of these, (his and hers) and they fit great in both cases.

Comments about West Marine Coastal Automatic Inflatable Life Vests:
Vest is easy to assemble, w/ clear instructions. The manual inflate tab hangs down and can easily get tangled in sheets, etc, but it can be tucked out of the way just inside the velcro sheath. Much more comfortable to wear than a traditional full vest. I haven't tried the inflation function yet (water is pretty cold here in Maine!). About only negative is the prominent advertising for West Marine emblazoned on the outer shell, but all vests seem to have this stuff in one form or the other regardless of retailer.
