Comments about West Marine Rail Mount Adapter:
It was my intent to purchase 3 rod holders and 6 rail mount adapters so I could switch the rod holders from starboard to port and visa versa depending on which way I was drift fishing. The rail mount adapters are fine and I would recommend them to anyone, however, I had to purchase 3 addition rod holders in order to get the rod holder base adapter that comes with the rod holder set. This is the mating piece that is needed in order to set up the rod holder for use. Would be nice if the rail mounted adapter were a 2 piece unit rather than just the backer plate. You are not getting what you see in the picture, only the backer plate side. Not the side that has the splinned shaft hole in it. West Marine does not sell the other piece separate.
