Comments about Sikkens Cetol Marine Wood Finish:
I've been using this stuff on my Cape Dory 25 for about 10 years now. Once I've applied about 4 coats, it lasts for several years. Gets lots of compliments, too. To redo, I just lightly prep the teak and reapply a few more coats. Great stuff and I don't have to go through all the issues with varnish.
Comments about Sikkens Cetol Marine Wood Finish:
Best to apply 2-3 coats of Cetol Marine and then build up the next layers with Cetol Gloss. Then you only have to touch up the gloss which is very easy to do.
Comments about Sikkens Cetol Marine Wood Finish:
I used the oils and they did not last. This will! This is worth every penny.
Comments about Sikkens Cetol Marine Wood Finish:
For years, we tried staining, varnishing, and even oiling our brightwork. For varnish, the wood required extensive, tedious, and time-consuming preparation (usually including removal from the boat). The oil never seemed to provide an attractive finish.
Comments about Sikkens Cetol Marine Wood Finish:
Cetol is the logical choice for those who prefer their bright work to be truly bright with minimal annual care following initial application.
Comments about Sikkens Cetol Marine Wood Finish:
I would recommend this product over varnish or oil
Comments about Sikkens Cetol Marine Wood Finish:
If you want the best possible appearance and are willing to take a little extra time to get it, this is a great product for you.I have used other teak sealers. None of them lasted more than 1 year. This product held up 5 years on my boat. My boat gets heavy use all summer with lots of people on board.
