On traditional buoys, a shaft passes through the buoyÂ’s center, holding together top and bottom with galvanized steel rings. The pennant from the boat attaches to the mooring chain under the buoy, never to the top ring.

I use this to hold a 40 foot sport/fishing boat. It works great but has one flaw. One morning, I noticed that the ball was not longer attached to the anchor chain. I retreived it and found that the galvanized rod that passes thru the ball had corroded into nothing. This after one year in the water. I had the rod replaced with astainless steel one and have had no further problems.

This is a mooring buoy for a small or medium size boat. It's attractive, simple, straightforward, and a good size. I'm particularly please that it has no black line attached to it and no advertising or other wording on it.
