Comments about West Marine Electrical Connectors:
The inside plastic that hold the male connectors shattered after three months of use. Screws to hold the wire are of miniature jewelry type size unsuitable to screw/unscrew twice and to be outdoors in the elements.

Comments about West Marine Electrical Connectors:
Others have cited the weak internal parts. But the worst part is how the hood of the plug requires the wires to bend sharply. The corner of the inside of the hood is relatively sharp and will cut right through insulation if the wires don't fit perfectly. The strain relief is minimal and only works for a limited range of wire diameters. The lack of decent strain relief exacerbates the likelihood of shorting.

Comments about West Marine Electrical Connectors:
I replaced the original deck plug with the 4-pin connector,it was a perfect match as far as dimensions but the quality was very poor.
The screws striped out with very little torque, the internal retainer cracked upon disassembly, and again when assembled. I had to tape it together until I could find a better quality plug

Best Uses
- Mast lights

Comments about West Marine Electrical Connectors:
Added two of these for mast lights and a removable speaker box.
Base needs cap installed to be completely
watertight.
Recommend silicon inside.
Also stands off quite a bit so don't place where it can be kicked or snag a line.
