As a 24 year experienced boater, you come across poor and good quality products. This product is exceptional. We have some on our boat and decided to install one on our new fish tank lid to keep it open. The lid is very heavy and we are very happy how much easier this item has made our daily lives. It was simple to install, keeps the lid open and releases in a split second. Best of all you know the heavy lid won't fall on your head while you are working under it. I am already recommending it to other Aquarium hobbyists.

spring support works ok to keep rear storage locker cover open. The cable inside the spring meant to limit the open length busted after several uses. It is not really an issue for me in my application but don't relay on the limiting cable alone if your application truly needs the open range of the supported item to be limited.
