Comments about Igloo Marine Elite Coolers:
I bought this cooler to replace an Igloo cooler seat that came with my boat. One of the handles on my new cooler is mounted crooked, and not just a little bit. I'm sure West Marine would let me exchange it, but I shipped it to Alaska before I noticed. Also the drain on this cooler sits well above the bottom of the cooler, so it is difficult to drain all the water out of the cooler. My original cooler came with a removable tray/bin and now Igloo has become cheap and doesn't include it with the 94qt and smaller models. On a positive note, I do like that replacement hardware is readily available.
Pros
- Easy To Drain
- Good Capacity
- Good Grip
- No Plastic Taste
- Retains Temperature Well
Cons
- Breakable
- Parts unavailable
Best Uses
- Campgrounds
- Fishing cooler
Comments about Igloo Marine Elite Coolers:
I bought the 162qt from West Marine two years ago and the second time I used it the stainlees wire lid stop pulled out of the crimps. I was able to re-crimp it and it held for two years.Recently the same thing happened but I was unable to fix it.I notced the newer marine coolers have a heavier wire and a thick lead crimp around a bushing which looks much sturdier.Obviously they knew it was an infrerior design and changed it. I went back to West Marine and was told they could get every replacement part but the one I need. They recommended contacting Igloo directly which I did and was told West Marine is the only dealer who recieved that type of lid stop and they don't make replacement parts for it. So basically if you buy the West Marine cooler you cant get a replacement lid stop. Now I expect the hinges will go since the lid opens too far.
Service and delivery comments:
Customer service was available but not very helpful since they couldnt provde me with replacement parts.

Comments about Igloo Marine Elite Coolers:
Great for the fishing catch. Stainless Steel latch/hinges/interior strap are perfect for wet conditions. Would've given it five stars, but on the stainless steel strap inside, there's a plastic grommet that has already broken and the strap will not stay on the lid. Will have to come up with something more durable for that little item, like a stainless steel grommet (why didn't IGLOO do that?). Still, I will buy more of these.

Comments about Igloo Marine Elite Coolers:
I have a previous Igloo 94 that still works after 5 years. However, all parts contected to the lid have been replaced. FINALLY Igloo has made a cooler that is easy to clean, has all stainless parts ATTACHED to the lid. Anyone who has had a cooler with plastics parts know they break. The new Igloo Marine coolers have stainless parts. After more than 43 years fishing, camping Igloo has made a cooler that has no competion in it's class and price range.

Comments about Igloo Marine Elite Coolers:
We purchased this cooler because the last one did not latch or have a drain plug. The old cooler's lid came unhinged and as a result our new boat carpeting was soaked after a rough boat ride. Am sure this one will work 200% better.

Comments about Igloo Marine Elite Coolers:
The Stainless steel securing clamps seemed like it would be an improvement over the original plastic. Not really so, as the SS clamps have to be perfectly aligned to close, and a little fiddling around is necessary to close the lid properly. This is on a new cooler, so have no idea if the problem will get worse after extended use.
