Comments about Xantrex TrueCharge2 Battery Chargers:

After going through 2 units in 10 months I am looking at other brands as I am at sea quite often and need reliable equipment. The support from Xantrex is only USA based and becomes very expensive [...]No where in the Xantrex advertising do they tell you that certain models are constructed as throw away models when US.

Comments about Xantrex TrueCharge2 Battery Chargers:

If you read the manual this appears to be a great charger. But I went through 3 of these in 2 1/2 years, this should be a install and forget type of charger. The led lights always showed some sort of problem, then it reset to normal. I now have switched to a different brand and it works great.

Comments about Xantrex TrueCharge2 Battery Chargers:

This unit is great in the fact it accepts any voltage from any source 90v - 270v and never has an issue with reverse polarity.
The problem is, it is unreliable. In two years it has been replaced twice. Xantrex does warranty it, but the install and returning the item is a pain.

Instead of this unit there are really good units that work on a 220v system for your time over seas and get a good 110v system for North America.

Comments about Xantrex TrueCharge2 Battery Chargers:

I've had two of these chargers now, and neither worked as advertised, the first completely failing after 2 months. On paper this looks like the perfect charger! The three stage charging is supposed to provide Bulk -> Absorbtion -> FLOAT charging. However, the unit will never float my 400amp battery bank. The unit quickly charges the bank up, and then shuts down into a "Ready" mode, and requires a manual power cycle to restart. Totally unacceptable and contrary to how the owners manual describes the units performance. I specifically bought this $600+ unit because it is supposed to charge the batteries, and then float them, providing auxilliary power up to it's rated amperage (60 in my case). Be sure. . .the unit does not do that even though it's written in black and white in the owner's manual. Extremely frustrating. Do not buy this unit if you are looking for something fully automatic and instelligent. It does not work as described/advertised. Period.

P.S. I suppose it's theoretically possible that I just got two bad units, which by itself would be another problem. . .
