Have had my Kettle gas grill for 30 years. Used on my sailboat for about 20 years then started using it on our motorhome (attaches to rear ladder same as boat railing. It has been used often and I keep thinking I want a new one, but this thing just will not wear out. For small grills the Magna Marine Kettle is probably the best on the market. For an old guy I have not seen or had any better.

My only complaint is that it takes a little time to convert for beach use. But other than that, it is a great size on board grill. I was able to cook for 8 without issue, and fit 6 burgers at a time with no scorching or cold spots.

After accumulating enough west marine gift cards as a birthday gift I decided to buy this little wonder. Price is definitely a bit high for a bbq, but I must say it is worth it. Used it several times with 10-15 mph winds and it performed flawlessly. It cooked everything just the way we like it in a reasonable amount of time. I have cooked for partys as large as 6 adults and 3 children with compliments. Set up and breakdown is a breeze. I am very happy that I bought this instead of a bilge pump.

This is my 3rd Magma, previous ones were an ancient charcoal version & then an early propane model. This model, Marine Kettle 2, has some major annoying design issues. The big 1 is that you need to remove the burner to disassemble it for cleaning or replacing the igniter. The burner rusts out in about a year & removing the remains that have "welded" themselves to the brass gas supply pipe is almost impossible. If you need to change the igniter, the burner must come off to take out the inner pan to get to it. I find the performance of the igniter to be a hit or miss proposition & have had to replace mine 3 times. I generally give up & use a lighter until I get around to getting a replacement & going through the dreaded disassembly process. It does cook pretty well however, with either a disposable bottle or hooked up to a regular tank.

I have used this grill (the large one) for over 3 years and still works like new. From the small gathering to a friends wedding at a sandbar for 55 people aprox. and that day we used 4 propane tanks we cooked for everyone and I am saying steak, sausage, corn, etc. Just the best grill you can have in your boat. No mess with grease or dirt since I use it on the rod holders you just have to level it the first time (take a wrench with you on the boat) and you will be good to start grilling. It is ease to clean and it works good even on heavy winds, also very simple assembly less than 3 min. If you like BBQ's. This is what you need. If I ever have to buy a new one, I will buy the same one againg.

Keep a can of grill spray handy, it makes cleanup MUCH easier! Perfect size to grill 5 good-sized burgers, 2-3 skewers, or a bunch of hotdogs. Make sure you get it level, as it will create a hot spot if it isn't. Get the stainless steel Magma cleaner to bring the shine back to the exterior surfaces. We use this on a 19' bowrider and have cooked for up to 8 people at once (burgers and dogs). We've used this for three years, and I think we're due for a new starter, but otherwise the grill is a great for us.

Excellent grill. I use the fishing rod holder to keep the frill up and away from boat, and drains oveboard. Cleans and stores easily.
